My School and career update :)

Well I just finished my first Module (first two courses) in Hope International University's masters in education/ teacher credential program. It feels good to have that under my belt. I am now in two new courses that start today these two are both online. :( I am not too excited about that- In the online courses we are required to post an introduction the first day of class, and the professor of one of my courses wanted to know our academic background, I probably included too much detail but I thought I would share it because I don't think many of you know,or are aware that I have not stopped taking course except for the (one semester carson was born) since I graduated college in 2006...

I graduated from HIU in 2006 with my bachelors in Children's Ministry. After graduating from HIU, I spent a semester getting perquisites taken for the CSUF credential program (completed 10 units), I had Carson the following February (2/17/2007) so I decided to enroll in CAL State teach instead of the traditional CSUF (Californian State University of Fullerton) credential program for the flexibility.I had to pull out of that program luckily before class "officially" began and send my books back because I had to move back to live in WA state with my family for a time and while living there I enrolled in Grand Canyon University's online masters in Elementary Education with eligibility for a teaching credential program. I chose this program because it was entirely online and I was in between Washington and California a lot at the time and not sure where I was going to be living full time. I completed 12 units there and realized the program was definitely catered to people currently teaching (which I was not) and I couldn't handle a completely online program and their credential was not recognized by California's department of Education... so this Fall 2008 I transferred to HIU (only one class of the four I had completed transferred) to complete my credential and masters at a school I knew was accredited and where I could receive quality education that was not all online. I am ready and motivated to finally get this credential already!!

There is some good to having to repeat very similar classes, first of all I have completed all my California Teacher Tests.. Cbest, CSET's etc. I know the info really well so my new classes aren't so difficult. I have my TB shot, fingerprinting, cpr/first aid certification...

But It is really annoying to me that I should be done with school and have a teaching credential if I stayed on track.. but that's just life, I guess you have to roll with the punches :)... Well actually I did stay on track just got on some wrong tracks that the California department of Education did not approve of.

I am working right now part time for brian's brother in law at EMC Design
you can see his web site at:
http://emcdesignca.com/
He own's his own graphic design company and I am his executive assistant. Brian's Dad watches Carson for me on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I Can do that. Currently I am applying to Substitute teach so I can get some teaching experience in both the private and public schools to see what I like better and get a feel for different grades. Plus the teaching jobs are so scarce right now the only way to get in is to have principles know you from subbing at their schools.

Anyways I just thought I would give an update of what I am doing for school (and what I have been doing!) and work because I am always posting about what and where me and Carson have been but I forget to fill you in on my student/work life :)
